Gianna Klein - The Truth About Factory Farming
Gianna's Story:

My name is Gianna Klein. I am currently 15 years old, and I completed this short documentary at 13. I have always loved animals, and have always been passionate about helping them in any way possible. When I was 6, I made a firm decision to stop eating meat, as I couldn’t stand the thought of eating other beings that I cared about so much. That decision led me to watch informative yet heartbreaking documentaries about where my food was coming from and how it was being produced. Both my lifestyle choice and the documentaries I watched were crucial in sparking what has turned out to be a commitment in advocating for the animals who have no voice; farm animals. When I was given this opportunity as a part of my 8th grade culmination project, I wanted to take the passion that I had and provide a way to spread the message of the pertinent and existing cruelty in factory farms in a way that could be well received by many. This documentary that I put together has guided many in making the important connection between their food and the sentient beings behind it. In the making of this documentary, I was inspired (as I hope others may be), to cut out any form of harm to animals by removing all animal products from my diet; not just meat. My goal is to continue informing people and spreading the message about the ever-present cruelty in our farming system.
Angenie Pelletier - Women's March 2016
Angenie's Story:

I am Angenie Pelletier and I am currently 19 years old, attending the University of California, Berkeley. I made this video shortly after the Women's Marches of 2017, as I was a junior in high school feeling passionate about the current political events going on in my life. Growing up a woman, specifically a Latina, I have always felt passionate about civil rights issues. I had always felt it important to focus not only on the injustices occurring in the communities that I pertain to, but of those that I knew I needed help. The sense of helping others who needed it had been ingrained in me since I was young, and in the wake of the presidential elections of 2016, I went to the Women's March feeling like I needed a way to express my anger about the injustices that were continually arising. After attending the march and feeling the connection with the people around me, I realized that it would be important to communicate connection and a need for change rather than anger. Inspired by the masses of people who came out to march not only in Los Angeles, but everywhere around the world, I found it inspiring to take the time to create a video depicting my experience and to try to communicate the feelings I had to those around me.
